01 What should a general contractor include with a site-work or underground-utility bid request?
Send the current civil plans, specifications, geotechnical report, addenda, bid form, quantity information, project schedule, phasing requirements, testing responsibilities, and known site constraints. Identify the utility owner, bid deadline, anticipated mobilization, alternates, bonding requirements, traffic-control needs, and any scope boundaries that remain open. A complete package helps the estimating team identify conflicts and exclusions before proposals are compared.
02 How early should a site-work contractor be involved in preconstruction?
Early involvement is most useful while scope, quantities, utility conflicts, access, dewatering, restoration limits, and release sequencing can still be clarified. The right timing varies by project, but a constructability review before final pricing can expose long-lead materials, incomplete details, tie-in constraints, and responsibilities that otherwise become assumptions in the bid.
03 How can a thorough bid review reduce avoidable change orders?
A useful review compares plans, specifications, addenda, quantities, schedule, site logistics, and scope boundaries before pricing is finalized. The goal is to expose gaps, conflicts, allowances, and trade interfaces while they can still be clarified. No review can eliminate every changed condition or owner revision, but visible assumptions give the project team a better basis for comparison and reduce avoidable change-order exposure.
04 Does Bravo Site Works conduct a site walk before every bid?
Yes. Bravo conducts a site walk for every job it bids. The review focuses on access, staging, existing conditions, active operations, neighboring improvements, haul routes, work windows, and interfaces that may not be fully visible in the documents. The site walk supplements the plans and project records; it does not replace survey, utility locating, geotechnical investigation, or engineered direction.
05 How does Bravo coordinate schedule issues and other subcontractors in the field?
The site superintendent, project management team, and office maintain an active communication loop around current conditions, release priorities, inspections, access, and emerging constraints. Project information and scheduling tools help identify bottlenecks early. Coordination with adjacent subcontractors focuses on shared work areas, crossings, handoffs, deliveries, and restoration so preventable conflicts are addressed before they disrupt the next milestone.
06 What are the core elements of Bravo Site Works’ safety culture?
Bravo has a dedicated safety manager, uses third-party field inspections and audits, supports OSHA training credentials appropriate to assigned roles, and maintains a right-to-stop-work policy. Team members can pause work when a hazard or changed condition needs evaluation. Exact training records, project-specific plans, and qualification documents are reviewed through the appropriate preconstruction and prequalification process.

07 What additional capabilities can be included with Bravo’s core utility and site-work scopes?
Additional capabilities include complete fiber installation, demolition, land clearing, FDOT-governed work, public right-of-way work, night work, underground stormwater retention systems, and project-specific gas installation, including underground propane systems serving generators. The bid review confirms delivery responsibilities, credentials, permits, inspections, work windows, and scope boundaries for the actual project.
08 What factors have the greatest effect on a site-work or utility bid?
Verified quantities, excavation depth, groundwater, unsuitable material or rock, import and export needs, disposal, access, traffic control, existing-utility conflicts, restoration, testing, phasing, bonds, and schedule constraints can all affect a bid. Good proposals make allowances, unit prices, exclusions, and owner-furnished information visible so the project team can compare the same scope.
09 What typically affects an underground utility or site-work schedule?
Approvals, material lead times, locates and potholing, survey control, utility-owner inspections, tie-in windows, rainfall, groundwater control, testing, clearance, access, adjacent trades, and final restoration can control the sequence. A useful baseline schedule connects those dependencies to the required building-pad, roadway, utility, and turnover releases instead of treating the underground scope as one uninterrupted activity.
10 Who is responsible for permits, inspections, testing, and closeout documents?
Responsibility depends on the contract, design, utility owner, and permitting agencies. Before award, the project team should create a responsibility matrix for the owner, engineer, general contractor, subcontractors, testing laboratory, utility owner, and authorities having jurisdiction. The matrix should cover applications, fees, notices, inspections, testing, record information, certifications, clearances, and final acceptance.
11 Does a Sunshine 811 ticket identify every underground line on a commercial site?
No. Sunshine 811 explains that member utility operators mark facilities they own or operate; private facilities can require a separate private locate. Records and marks are planning inputs, not a substitute for the project-specific verification required by the design and excavation plan. Ticket timing, positive response, tolerance-zone precautions, field conditions, and any potholing requirements should be resolved before excavation.

12 Can record drawings or GIS maps replace field verification?
No. Record drawings and GIS information are valuable planning references, but alignments, depths, materials, abandoned facilities, and later modifications may differ from what is shown. Current utility locates, survey, potholing or vacuum excavation, and direction from the engineer or utility owner may still be necessary before finalizing crossings, connections, or excavation methods.
13 When does a Florida construction project need stormwater permit coverage and a SWPPP?
Florida Department of Environmental Protection guidance generally applies construction-stormwater coverage when one or more acres are disturbed, or when a smaller site is part of a larger common plan, and stormwater can discharge to state waters or a municipal separate storm sewer system. Linear roadway, pipeline, and utility work can be included. The responsible operator, coverage, Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan, inspections, and termination requirements should be confirmed for the actual project.

14 How is construction dewatering handled in Southwest Florida?
The team should establish the discharge location, water-quality concerns, treatment or best management practices, permit coverage, monitoring, and responsible operator before pumping begins. Not every discharge is eligible for the same authorization. Groundwater conditions also affect excavation support, access, soil handling, production, and recovery after rain, so dewatering should be coordinated with the design and project schedule rather than carried as an undefined field assumption.

15 What should be clarified as an allowance, unit price, or exclusion before award?
Common clarification topics include rock, unsuitable soil, imported fill, contaminated soil or water, additional testing, unknown utilities, night work, shutdowns, bypass needs, permits and fees, traffic control, restoration limits, design changes, and work outside normal sequencing. The goal is not to shift risk with vague language; it is to show which conditions are measured, designed, included, or still unresolved.
16 Which Southwest Florida counties does Bravo Site Works serve?
The current service area is limited to Lee, Collier, Charlotte, Sarasota, and Manatee counties. The exact municipality, utility provider, right-of-way owner, permitting agency, project type, and schedule still determine fit for an individual opportunity.
17 What happens after a Request a Bid form is submitted?
The submitted county, scope, schedule, contact information, message, and plan-access note give the estimating team a starting point for fit review. The next step may be a request for current documents, scope clarification, bid instructions, or a direct conversation. Online delivery must be configured and tested before launch; until then, use the published phone number or estimating email shown on the bid page.
18 Does Bravo Site Works build concrete duct banks?
Yes. Bravo reviews concrete-encased conduit pathway scopes for projects in Lee, Collier, Charlotte, Sarasota, and Manatee counties. The approved design and project responsibility matrix must establish conduit configuration, structures, reinforcement, concrete, testing, restoration, electrical-trade boundaries, utility coordination, and final acceptance for the specific installation.
