Pole locations, mounting heights, fixture types, distributions, aiming, circuiting, controls, and light-level criteria should come from the approved project documents. Civil, landscape, utility, and electrical sheets should be compared so poles do not conflict with drainage structures, underground utilities, trees, accessible routes, sight lines, building features, or future maintenance access. Field placement should not be used to resolve a missing photometric or engineering decision.
The roadway owner, property owner, serving utility, municipality, and authority having jurisdiction may each control a different part of the work. Public right-of-way and FDOT-governed locations can add permit details, standard plans, structural criteria, maintenance-of-traffic requirements, inspection points, work windows, and closeout documents. The bid should identify the controlling documents and the party responsible for each approval rather than relying on a generic street-lighting detail.
Coordinate foundations and underground pathways with the site plan
Surveyed pole locations connect the lighting plan to excavation, base preparation, foundation construction, conduit routing, pull points, handholes, grounding, and finished grade. Existing utilities should be located and critical conflicts resolved before excavation. Foundation type, reinforcement, embeds, anchor-bolt pattern, conduit entries, drainage, backfill, concrete requirements, and curing or loading restrictions must follow the approved details and equipment information.
Installation access also belongs in the plan. Drill or excavation equipment, concrete delivery, lifting equipment, pole staging, overhead conditions, traffic, pedestrians, adjacent businesses, and other trades can affect the safe work area and sequence. Temporary controls and restoration limits should be defined before mobilization. If a trenchless crossing is proposed, the design information and Bravo delivery method require separate project-specific confirmation.
Carry electrical interfaces through testing and turnover
Pole, luminaire, arm, base, conductor, enclosure, control, and service equipment selections affect submittals, lead times, storage, installation, and warranty requirements. The proposal should state which materials are contractor-furnished or owner-furnished and who is responsible for procurement, receiving, inspection, substitutions, damaged components, and manufacturer coordination. Circuit routing and equipment details should be resolved early enough to protect underground and foundation work.
Turnover requirements may include inspections, conductor and grounding checks, control verification, fixture operation, aiming, light-level or photometric acceptance, utility coordination, record information, product data, warranty documents, and corrective work. The approved documents determine the exact tests and witnesses. Utility service, energized connections, commissioning, and final acceptance are included only when the project documents and Bravo proposal assign them explicitly.
Build a street-lighting bid request around clear responsibilities
Provide the current civil, electrical, lighting, landscape, and utility plans; photometric information; pole, luminaire, and control schedules; foundation and structural details; geotechnical information; survey and existing-utility records; permit requirements; maintenance-of-traffic plan; restoration details; submittal status; project schedule; and required completion date. Identify utility-owned work, owner-furnished materials, separate electrical responsibilities, testing, inspection, and closeout expectations.
